We took Ist and 2nd cash prizes for female O40s – Louise and Kathy respectively. Louise was 2nd female overall.
The next race is on December 6th with prizes for O50s this time. Still time for others to enter. Each run on the first Sunday of the month is a separate event with lots of prizes – if you run 4 or more you will count in the series league.
Big story of the day, however, was further down the field with near murder on the home straight. Geoff had run well trying to keep up with Jane who was too strong on the final lap. Unbeknown to him he was being tracked by Jude who slowly reeled him in and made her move 250 from the finish. He was stunned as she went by and settled mentally for being beaten yet again. But she failed to press home the advantage. With 100 to go he found his “so moneysupermarket.com” mode and with hidden reserves he sprinted for the line passing Jude and another lady in the process.
In the finishing funnel words were said! The battle lines are now drawn for next month – can’t wait!!
Big thank you to injured Richard Wassell for his support of all K&Ds. Best moment of the day was eating Kathy’s homemade flapjacks with our tea afterwards.
