Twas the morning before Christmas and all through the house, not a creature was stirring, because they’d all gone to Brueton parkrun! 496 of ’em! A new event attendance record.
Darren John was first K&D Runner across the line. Following a week of lurgy he ran 18:18. He was going to take it easy but ended up in a battle with David Carbutt who ran his fastest ever time at Brueton with 18:21. A nice follow-up to his recent 18:18 effort at Cannon Hill. Chairman Jonathan Randell made sure the top 3 men finished all under 19 by clocking 18:59.
For the ladies Captain Kathy Bailey ran all the twos: 22:22. Behind her Jane Hunt clocked 22:49 and Sarah Cattell rounded out the top 3 in 24:25.
There were 52 K&D Runners at Brueton. PB corner features Sally Anderson (26:18), Lianne Le Swann (28:56). Congrats. You can have an extra slice of Turkey/Nut Roast (delete as applicable).
Craig Campbell returned to the homeland; popping up in bonnie Scotland and visited Falkirk parkrun on Christmas Eve. He ran 22:03.
Subhash Agarwalla ticked off Wales on our tour Christmas Eve tour of England, Scotland and Wales with a 27:26 run.
Fact: Christmas Day parkrun is the best of the year.
Darren John took first K&D Runner across the line (though Chris Sharp, also in a Santa Hat was ahead of him but didn’t go through the funnel). He ran 18:33 feeling less full of lurgy but more full of Chinese takeaway. Joe Read enjoyed a festive leg stretch coming home in 18:41 followed by Russell Davies in 21:22.
For the ladies Kathy Bailey made it a Christmas double for first places. She was first K&D runner home on Christmas Eve and Day running 22:29 before she opened her presents. Flick Sharp + Buggy were second in 23:09 followed by Jude Mansfield in 26:07.
No PB’s on Christmas Day but Kerry Hobbis did make her Brueton debut.
The consolidated report on the parkrun website doesn’t list K&D Runners elsewhere for Christmas Day parkruns. So if you did run before opening your presents but haven’t been mentioned please accept my apologies on this occasion…. but congrats on being madder than a box of reindeer.
Great Running Team!
