Cross Country: K&D Men Back in the Big Time

A tough cross country season for the men with injuries and illness, mishaps and difficulties culminated with a superb promotion back into the big time of Div. 1. Finishing 2nd overall the K&D men showed their superb strength in depth. Despite all sorts of challenges this season the men more than comfortably secured a stellar promotion.

A long journey to Trentham was rewarded with a superb improvement. Last time we were promoted by the skin of our teeth. This time it was with space to spare.

Rob Yeates led the team round with a superb 5th place with 14th, 15th and 16th occupied by Gareth Wainwright, Chris Sharp, and Chris Morgan. In 44th Simon Bentley made a massive contribution while Tim Price in 48th showed his epic XC engine.

With Jack Bristow (52nd), Torsten Roesler (60th), Paul Bentley (89th), Greg Turner (106th), Pete Makepeace (113th), Max Gimson (127th), Edward Fraser Long (137th) and Phil Wood (159th) all taking valuable points off the opposition.

With the list of men away, ill or injured as long as a XC finish chute it is a massive testament to K&D’s strength in depth that the men secured promotion at ease. The focus now will be on a strong summer to ensure we cement our place in Div. 1 next year.

Massive congrats to all the guys who ran or volunteered this year. It wasn’t easy but you showed superb grit.
