Darren’s Brum 10k Report

Darren John put a nice review of the Birmingham 10k on the Forum which is definitely worthy of a page of it’s own….. Thanks Darren, we particularly like your running partner….

Darren & OwlWith the Great Birmingham Half a permanent fixture in the City’s Autumn racing calender, the newly monikerd Morrisons Great Run Series inaugurated the Great Birmingham 10k on 3rd May.

The course was a fast first 5km to Edgbaston Cricket Ground then a return 5km featuring ‘The Hill’. The field seemed more recreational than the half, with no international elites and a smaller number of club vests on show at the front.

It was a little disappointing that they couldn’t find a course substantially different to the Half course. And that hill just isn’t pleasant or conducive to a fast time. And £25 for a 10k is…. wince inducing. But we did get the usual good organisation, decent crowds and Broad Street finish (though wearing short shorts & a club vest probably meant I wasn’t showing nearly enough skin for a stint on Broad Street). It was a fun race though and relatively low key in its first year.

Found a few club results – Well done all & apologies if I have missed anyone:
