We have had a long association with the cricket club but sometimes good things come to an end, we have grown our membership to a size where it is difficult to organise the groups on a Wednesday and car parking can be difficult.
The cricket club is also being refurbished after which the layout will be unsuitable for a large group to meet in. We would therefore like to thank the cricket club for their support but are pleased to announce that after Wednesday 1st February we will have a new home at Knowle Football Club on Hampton Road.
After considering available venues the committee are delighted with the new venue, it is much larger, has more car parking, we will not disturb others most Wednesdays and it has access to familiar running routes. We are hoping that the partnership will grow, as part of the Knowle Development Plan, the football club has plans to move across the road in the coming years and build a purpose built sports club, something that the running club may want to be part of.
The car parks at the football grounds are locked but we will ensure we have adequate key holders to enable access at all sessions through the week. Please spread the news to those members that may not read the newsletter!
I would like to thank the club committee for the work that they have put in over the last few weeks to ensure that we secured a venue in which we can continue to develop, we have also developed a plan to ensure that all groups on a Wednesday are adequately supported and to ensure that everyone is running with the group most suited to them.
At our AGM on April 5th we will need to elect new committee members including chairperson and secretary. Without people willing to come forward and help the club will be in a difficult position. Both Sally (secretary) and myself are willing to help the incoming members but it is good to have new ideas coming into the club; the amount of work isn’t big, you will have plenty of experienced people committee members to help so please consider putting yourself forward asap.
