Runner’s Beware: There are livestock on the course and puns in the report.
Due to some rather uncooperative livestock the men’s 12k XC Championship race became a rather elongated 15km. A shock to the system. One almost has to admire the stubborness of livestock who refuse to move when faced with a stampede of 377 men in short shorts. Stubborn Cow’s. Or Sheep. Or Pigs.
Joe Read continued his excellent winter form, sow-ing up the first K&D runner home with a barn-storming 45th place. Excellent reward for turning out on a ‘fresian’ cold day. Mark Amyes was our other representative in the men’s race. Having ‘goat’ stuck in all winter he was happy as a pig in muck with a 1:14:42 finish. I ‘herd’ he had a good race. Proof if ever it was needed that a good winter’s cross country does no harm at all. Even in ‘foal’ weather and up to your ‘calf’ in mud.
