Results from XC fixture number 1

Ladies team Saturday 8th November saw the start of the cross country season with both the men’s and women’s teams competing at Newbold Common, Leamington. Known to be one of the more challenging (i.e. fun!) cross country courses, those who had run before warned of ‘the hill’ and ‘the ditch!’ This didn’t put the men and women of K and D off though with 13 men and 11 women (yes, 11 women!!) taking part.

Ladies team 2The morning weather couldn’t have been much worse with heavy rain making for a very muddy course and full ditch! However as the ladies race started the rain cleared and there were great performances all round. A special mention to Lianne LeSwann who ran brilliantly in her first XC race despite starting a few minutes late! It was a fantastic opportunity for runners of all standards to run alongside some top athletes. The ladies race was won by Jess Judd (Great Britain 800m runner), although I think only the men watching really saw her! The ladies team finished 21st (out of 40) with the masters team 6th (out of 31) – a fantastic start to the season!

Men In the men’s 2nd division the A team finished in 7th (out of 18) and B team in 6th (out of 13).

A big thank you to everyone who ran and to those who were there to support the teams. The next fixture is on Saturday 6th December – look out for details on the website and from your captains.
