Round Sheffield Winter 20k and another Marathon for John!

On a cold Sunday 9th,  Pete Austin travelled north for the Round Sheffield Run Winter Edition. It was about 12 miles/20k of racing on  the western edge of Sheffield heading out to the edge of the Peak District and back via a variety of parkland trails. To make it a bit different the course was split into 11 stages of between 400m and 2.8km in length, with small rests, feed stations , road crossings etc between the stages. Being Sheffield it was far from flat, and with a cold night, ice was still present on a few paths.Despite this, there was plenty of opportunity to get some fast descents in the woods. The whole event was very well organised with start waves and staggered set offs, and Pete finished 277th out of 1400 finishing pairs or individuals.

Another marathon for John!

Catching up on some news from late December, and while most of us were still eating Christmas leftovers on the 27th December, John Garside managed to squeeze in yet another marathon to add to his growing total, running a 26.5 mile distance at the Sunrise to Sunset Challenge on the Shrewsbury Cycle Track. With the lap distance at around 1km, that was a lot of laps – well done John!
