THE RUNDOWN – 10TH OCTOBER: MANCHESTER MARATHON, RUN SILVERSTONE, EYAM HALF MARATHONS, ACU 40 ULTRA, STAFFS EPIC TRAIL 10K & PARKRUN
MANCHESTER MARATHON
The marathons are coming thick and fast this month, seeing a number of our runners travel north to Manchester, seeing some really excellent performances, with 4 K&D men coming in under the 3-hour mark! Men’s Captain Chris Sharp finished in a super-speedy 2 hours 29 minutes and was 7th overall – clearly all the hard work he’s been putting in recently has paid off, with Habib Farazmand, Chris Morgan and Gareth Wainwright all coming in under the 3-hour mark. Adeba Jama led the K&D ladies home, completing her first marathon, and special mention also to John Garside completing his second marathon in 8 days

Meanwhile, further south at the iconic Silverstone track, a few of our members took on the half marathon, 10k and 5k distances. George de Bolla led the K&D half marathon contingent home in a an impressive 1 hour 19 minutes, coming 22nd overall, and a special mention also to Karen Ratcliffe who completed the 10k in 53:02, coming 2nd in her age category.
Catching up on some news from last week, Chris Revell completed the Eyam half marathon last Sunday to celebrate turning 40. It’s only the second time that he’s run that distance (last time in 2014) and with over 1600ft of climbing it was a tough race. Chris finished a superb 7th overall in 1 hour and 30 minutes, a new PB and first in his new age category V40.
