THE RUNDOWN – 17TH JULY: COMPTON VERNEY HALF, DROITWICH 10K & PARKRUN
COMPTON VERNEY HALF MARATHON
Jason Pitcher, Hannah Donelan and Rich Hegan braved the soaring temperatures to take on the Compton Verney Half Marathon. The course takes runners up the tough Pittern Hill from both sides, with the last climb coming in the final mile.
All 3 raced really well in very challenging conditions. Jason finished in 11th overall in 1:34, Hannah ran 1:40 to finish as 1st V35 and 5th female and Rich finished in an excellent 2:05.
DROITWICH 10K
Nick Woolley took the short trip down the M5 to race the 3rd event in the Worcestershire Evening Series on Wednesday night. On a very lumpy but scenic course he came out on top running 34:27 and was rewarded with ice cream at Churchfields Farm, which I’m sure members of the Ladies XC team will be familiar with!
Parkrun Roundup
A total of 50 K&D members got out early to avoid the heat and completed parkruns around the country.
Well done to Juliet Jones who was first female finisher at Brueton in 21:03, Sam Checkett who ran the only PB of the week of 21:39 again at Brueton. Well done also to David Rose who completed the notoriously difficult Woolacombe Dunes in 27:03. Full results are below:
