The RUNdown – 31st JULY: London Landmarks half marathon, East Mids Grand Prix, parkrun & Tough Mudder

London Landmarks Half Marathon

After a pacey parkrun yesterday, Nicky Evans travelled south for the London Landmarks Half Marathon, finishing in an excellent time of 1:57:09, coming 2,275th in a field of over 11,000 runners. The race started on Pall Mall, and finished by Downing Street, with fabulous views of London’s most iconic landmarks including Big Ben, St Paul’s Cathedral, Nelson’s Column, the Gherkin, the Shard, the Tower of London and the London Eye

East Mids Grand Prix Series: Banbury 5 & Rugby 6

Without the usual WRL races taking place,  Chris Revell has recently run in some of the East Midlands Grand Prix series which says he has thoroughly enjoyed. On a very hot and humid 13 July – pictured here, Chris likened it to “running in a sauna” – he did the Banbury 5  in a time of 30.21 which represented a 35 second PB. On 28th July in more runner friendly weather conditions,  he completed the Rugby 6 20th overall, in a time of 36.08 which was a superb 3 minute PB, and reports it is the most he can recall enjoying a race since not the Roman IX 2018. His next race in the series will be the “Hooky 6”.

Parkrun results

Another busy week for K&D runners taking part in 12 parkruns around the country. Some notable performances saw top 3 overall places overall for Habib Farazmand – 2nd and a new PB of 17:10, Gareth Wainwright (3rd) and David Carbutt (1st), with Jessica Woolley taking 1st lady again this week (and a new PB), this time at Prospect parkrun. Anna Delaney also managed a top 3 finish, and a new PB touring at Tamar Lakes.

And a few more PBs to mention: Paul O’Donnell who was first K&D home at Brueton, and a second consecutive PB for Alan Green. Continuing to up her pace, great running from Alice Green, who notched up a new PB at Brueton. Results summary is below, and remember, if you want your results to be listed, make sure K&D is down as your home Club on the parkrun website!

Tough Mudder

And finally this week, what better way to celebrate your 50th birthday, than with a muddy race! Run Leader Coordinator Amanda Crees completed the 10 muddy miles with 25 obstacles in the Yorkshire Dales, raising an excellent £630 for the British Heart Foundation in memory of her father.
