THE RUNDOWN 3RD DECEMBER: XC LEAGUE RACES 2, VALENCIA MARATHON, WORCESTER RING, MENTAL ELF 5K & PARKRUN

Valencia Marathon

This weekend we start in Valencia, Spain where Greg Turner ran the marathon in the
brilliant time of 2 hours 54 mins. Congratulations Greg, and nice to see you’re enjoying the same weather we’ve got here!

Meanwhile in temperatures about 30 degrees colder, over in Worcester Keith and Linda Whitehead braved the elements and ran the 23 mile Worcester Ring Run. Keith completed it in 4 hours 53 mins with Linda close behind in 4 hours 57. Congratulations to you both – fantastic running!

Next, Monica Green completed the 5km Mental Elf for MIND run around the War MemorialPark in Coventry and dressed up for it too. Nice to see you’re wearing your outfit from Friday night!

XC League Race 2

This weekend also saw the Men’s and Ladies’  XC teams compete at Stratford on a cold
and muddy afternoon! The Ladies team were third overall, and an excellent first in the master’s event.
The Senior Men’s A and B teams both came 8th and in the master’s the team came 4 th .
Thanks also to Stephen Ray for timekeeping for both the ladies’ and men’s races!

England Masters Selection

Congratulations to Chris Sharp who’s qualified to represent England masters at the 2024
Manchester Half. I’m sure we’ll all be watching out for you and cheering you on!

K&D Christmas Party (thanks to Nicky Evans for the write-up)

A merry night was had by all at the K&D Christmas party on Friday night! – seeing Club Members ditch the lycra and don their glad rags to party the night away with music
provided by the brilliant Two Weeks Notice.
The highlight of the night was the annual awards, a chance to celebrate some of the fantastic
achievements of our members over the past year.
The Winners were:

Best Female -Myshola Kirkham
Most Improved Male -Bruce Hampton
Most Improved Females-Kate Leeson and Anna Delaney
Most Inspiring-Jon Jennings
Most Committed-Stephen Ray

And congratulation also to Chris Wellings who won the Club Person of the Year award as voted for by members – much deserved after the huge effort he puts into being the Run Leader Coordinator and the support and encouragement he offers to all. Well Done Chris!

Parkrun Roundup

Freezing conditions saw many parkruns cancelled this weekend , including the local Brueton run, with the smallest numbers of K&D runners seen in years – just 17 runners braving the cold conditions and late cancellations. Well done to George Spann for 3rd overall at Babbs Mill and to James Taylor and Bruce Hampton for their new PBs. Full results in the table below:
