K&D Christmas Party & Annual Awards – a word from Club Chairperson Paul Winwood

Friday night saw K&D members gathering at the village hall for our Christmas party and club awards with local band Two Weeks Notice returning with yet another great performance which had everyone up and enjoying themselves on the dance floor!

In between the two sets we held the raffle and club awards for 2022. There have been many great performances this year with difficult choices to make in each category. The winners on the night were;
Best Female: Juliet Jones. Juliet has had an outstanding season representing the club at cross country, parkrun and the WRRL where she was 5th overall lady and came 1st in her age category! Superb stuff!
Best Male: Martin Hancock. Martin goes about his work in a very understated manner but is a regular run leader, parkrun volunteer and had a great WRRL season claiming a top 3 place in his age category. Great work Martin!
Most improved Female: Tanya Cronin
This was a hugely popular choice with Tanya having a superb running year, training hard, representing the club at various races and the WRRL getting faster and claiming PB after PB! Well done Tanya, much deserved
Most Improved Male: Graham Edwards A hugely popular member and choice for this award. Graham has worked so hard coming back from a serious knee injury to represent the club at various races, parkrun and the WRRL. This hard work recently paid off spectacularly with a new HM PB knocking a whopping 10 minutes off his previous time. Fabulous, well done Graham!
Most Committed: Chris Wellings Chris is a hugely popular club member, committee member and run leader coordinator keeping all the various groups organised on club nights as well as being a regular run leader himself! Great work Chris!
Best Newcomer: Billy Connors Young Billy has been a great addition to the club this year following in the running shoes of parents Andy and Sarah. Billy has represented the club superbly this year with some fine performances across all distances including a marathon and an Ultra. Billy is also a member of the cross country team! Great stuff, well done Billy!
Most Inspiring: Keith & Linda Whitehead. It was a great pleasure to make this award to Keith and Linda who are great ambassadors for the club appearing at events far and wide in the Green & Gold! They have both had excellent seasons in the WRRL and Linda is a member of the cross country team. Brilliant!
Club Person of the year: Paul Winwood (the next few words were not written by Paul who of course is far too modest to say anything about himself!) this was another hugely popular choice, and an award which was voted on by all of our members, recognising all that Paul contributes to the Club – from his extensive Committee duties, run-leading, to liaising with many of our external partners and local community and generally being an all-round great bloke! – thanks Paul for all that you do.
I would also like to say a huge thank you to the committee for their hard work in putting the event on and in particular Karen Bell for comms and ticket sales, Jo Tork our marvellous club secretary for working on nominations and trophies, Claire Deeley for organising the raffle prizes and then along with Ann Spencer doing a fabulous job on setting up the room on the evening, doing the raffle and then staying behind to help clear up. Fantastic!

Finally to the Raffle, which raised and excellent £185 (to be donated to the Crisis charity that work towards ending homelessness). Many thanks to KP Mind and Body, Birmingham Runner, Coventry Runner, Packwood House, EnjoyRunning and Sarah Connors for donating prizes
