Weekend Recap: Bath Time, Go-Go-Go in Silverstone, Wembley Way, Shakespeare in Spring, parkrun roundup
Vitality Bath Half-Marathon
Two K&D representatives enjoyed the spa surroundings of Bath over 13.1 miles. A record turn out at the growing event included Hayley Murphy and Robert Yates who ran together and finished in 2:20:33 and 2:20:34. That’s a PB for Bob in what according to Power of 10 is his first half-marathon.
Adidas Silverstone Half
At the home of British motorsport Craig Campbell continued his build to the London Marathon with a new PB over the half marathon distance. Craig ran a PB in the 1:49:03.
He was joined by a number of K&D runners and a Pit Crew full of K&D supporters.
Full Results:
Richard Clarke – 1:43:20 (PB)
Darryl Wilkes – 1:45:57 (PB)
Emma Donnelly – 1:48:17
Craig Campbell – 1:49:03 (PB)
Mike Mcdonald – 1:52:13
Richard Beale – 2:16:37 (PB)
Raceways Spring Shakespeare Half:
K&D had two men repping the gold hoops at the Spring Shakespeare. Laps of an airfield don’t sound the most appealing but what it suffers in repetition the race does provide a fast and flat course. Both men ran PB’s according to power of 10.
Martin Dedicoat ran 1:31:09 and Adam O’Nions clocked 1:36:57. Congrats to both men on their shiny new PB’s!
Vitality North London Half:
The classified results now from London where Darren John kicked-off his spring season with a 1:20:53 at the Vitality North London Half. A strong first half showing was followed by a tougher second half as stomach gurgles got the better of him. Likely to be the only Birmingham City fan visiting Wembley Stadium for a while he finished with a kick along pitchside to finish in front of a busy Wembley stand.
Note: The outlet store next to Wembley has a Nike, Adidas, New Balance and Asics Store. Ouch goes the wallet.
Brueton parkrun:
Gareth Wainwright narrowly missed out on a sub-17 clocking at Brueton on Saturday with a 17:03 to be first Green and Gold home. Behind him was a humdinger of a who’s who in Knowle & Dorridge Men. Michael Swann ran 18:34, Richard Dixon was home in 19:08, Tim Price ran 19:14 and Paul Williams ran 19:27. Swamping the top-11 places with 5 K&D Men. #SwampThings
For the ladies Elaine Callinan continued to go from strength to strength, lowering her personal best down to 22:37. Behind her Jane Hunt was only just shy of her peak in 22:39. They were followed by Siobhan Cotter in 23:35. Another lady only a nudge of her best. Clearly our ladies are in fine form going into Spring.
There were PB’s from the following:
Ian Naisbitt – 21:08
Elaine Callinan – 22:37
Mike Stapley – 26:48
Congratulations Team! Great running.
Bolton parkrun
Andrew Knowles got a bolt-on in Bolton to run 24:43 over 5k.
