Weekend Recap: Centurions is Back

Centurions GP:
It’s Back! Everyone’s favourite series through winter. 6 races. Fast, flat, and with regularity that makes checking your progress through to Spring nice and simple. Flick Sharp isn’t messing about as we go into XC season. She was 2nd female overall – only a smidge behind Nuneaton’s ever excellent Eleanor Fowler. Flick ran a super 32:17 (Beating Mr. Peter Heald too to boot).
Anthony Dutton was 2nd K&D overall and first male in 32:25.

For the men behind Anthony it was Steve Armstrong who took 2nd K&D Man in 34:14 (and first MV60), and Pete Makepeace in the bronze at 36:06. On her way back to full fitness Rosie Marsh ran 36:28 for 2nd K&D woman and Kate Marsh ran 38:02 for third.

Three Bridges Run
Go to Australia, Find a Half Marathon, finish 10th and 2nd in your age group. Easy.
Danny Malone clocked a 39:14 split before finishing strong in 1:26:30 at the Parramatta 2019 Three Bridges Run. I’m sure anyone caught in the freezing rain at Brueton on Saturday really feels for him at how warm his HM was.

Brueton parkrun:
With the rain and Rugby decimating the field it allowed Centurion James Eckloff to steal the 001 finisher token for the very first time at Brueton. His 17:24 in the rain led a sparser than usual field. Habib Farazmand cruised round in 3rd overall with an 18:49 in the rain. Darren John paced son of Ryan and Amanda, Jack to a new 19:36 PB. Darren’s run was interrupted with 2xShoelace malfunctions. Get some Velcro. Anthony Dutton rounded out K&D’s podium with a 19:56.

It was double joy in the O’Leary household as Jack’s PB was complimented by Amanda’s finishing K&D’s first lady (and second overall) in 21:23. Nicky Evans finished 2nd for K&D in 24:33 and Adeba Jama took K&D bronze in 24:51. Unsurprisingly in apocalyptic weather conditions there were no PB’s.

Oldham parkrun:
Paul O’Donnell found himself just outside Manchester on Saturday and ran 23:32 at Oldham parkrun.

Pontypridd parkrun:
Ticking off one of The Full Ponty challenge locations this week was Steve Marks who ran 33:24.

Babbs Mill parkrun:
Lots of K&D at Babbs Mill this week as they scouted the course pre-Centurions. Kate Marsh ran 23:35, Gareth Lloyd clocked 24:57, Kevin Tomkinson looked lovely in pink as he finished in 25:58, Katie Price ran the numerically pleasing 43:43 and Alison Giblin rounded out the team in 48:32.

Fleetwood Promenade parkrun:
Mary Heald didn’t let the wind and rain ruin her visit to the seaside as she ran 20:49.

Torbay Velopark parkrun:
David John embraces 80mph winds at Torbay as he ran 29:50.

Sherwood Pines parkrun:
Definitely tights weather for Robin Hood and his Merry Men. And Kerry Ann Thomspson wo ran 23:21.
