Weekend Recap: Mountains out of Polhill’s

Inter Counties XC Champs/World Cross Country Championships Trials:

Congratulations to Jane Evans and Rachel Gifford who represented Warwickshire with aplomb over the weekend. Taking on the countries top athletes Jane and Rachel delivered excellent results in the final cross country race of the year. Jane finished 71st and Rachel 149th wearing the colours of Warwickshire. Our ladies made up 2 of the 8 Warwickshire athletes who finished a superb 9th overall. Congratulations Jane and Rachel.

Vitality Big Half:

Mo Farah took on most the BBC coverage but two K&D’s were following in his arm-warmer wake as Darryl Wilkes ran 1:53:29 and Elisabeth Robery finished in 2:15:59.

Brueton parkrun:

Gary Polhill was man of the morning as he became the latest K&D man to join the Sub-18 Brueton parkrun club. With a strong field Gary looked stong throughout and ran a supber 17:49 for a big old PB. Gareth Wainwright took first K&D’er home leading the train in 17:09 before Gary stormed across the line and Rob Michaelson-Yeates cruised round in 18:00.

K&D’s women we’re headed up by Club Person of the Year nominee Mary Heald who ran 21:34 while Kerry Ann Thompson slipped under 23 in 22L58 and Jane Hunt was third in 23:53.

Gary’s PB stole the headlines but there were other PB’s for Dawn Woolven in 28:32 and Paul O’Donnell (21:51).

Leamington parkrun:

Johnny Bellman took on the giant hill at Leamington at a casual pace running a 33:33. An excellent numerical time. Three is clearly the magic number.

Arrow Valley parkrun:
Jack Whitehouse loves a bit of Arrow Valley action as he ran other outright PB of 21:17.

Sherwood Pines:
Katie Price went in search of Robin of Loxley and found lots of men in (running) tights. At Sherwood Pines she ran 27:42.

Belton House parkrun:
Stephen Ray travelled to one of the beautiful National Trust parkruns and had a trott around the Grade 1 listed building originating in the 1680’s. Stephen Ray ran 22:54.
