Weekend Recap: Part II – The parkrun Roundup

With all the fun of the weekend’s racing the recap was getting longer than the Director’s Cuts of every Lord of the Rings and Hobbit movie shown one after the other. So for all Saturday’s parkrun action see below…

Brueton parkrun:

Rob Ambrose took the K&D title for this week with an 18:36 at Brueton on Saturday Morning. On the 9th April 2016 Rob ran 18:36. On the 1st April 2017 Rob ran… 18:36. If he run’s 18:36 next week we’ll think he’s doing it on purpose.

Rob just managed to sneak in ahead of Richard Dixon. Tricky Dicky clocked 18:41 to be second in green and gold across the line. He was in turn followed by Paul Williams in 19:28.

For the ladies Siobhan Cotter took the gold in 24:21 continuing her consistent run of results at Brueton. Following hot on her heels were Kerry Whitehill and Sally Anderson. Kerry ran 25:21 while Sally smashed her PB – running 25:23. For stats fans… that is a 35 second improvement on last week; which in itself was a 20 second PB. Someone get the extinguisher because Sally is on fire (Note: Improper use of Fire Extinguishers is not recommended and can be dangerous).

Sally’s PB party was also attended by Gail Partridge. Gail ran 34:45 to set a new best.

Congratulations to Penny Taylor who joined the 50 club.

Arrow Valley parkrun

Popular with club members for a local spot of parkrun tourism, Arrow Valley parkrun near Redditch this week played host to Stephen Evans who ran 26:30.

Hillsborough parkrun

Home of the Owls, Sheffield’s Hillsborough played host to Pete Austin this week who seemed perfectly at home in such surrounding with a head turning (Owl Pun Intended) 20:47.

Other puns prepared include…He certainly wasn’t a twit-who forgot his running shoes. Thankfully there were no injuries such as a torn-knee (tawny) ligaments either. And Owl leave it there for now….
