Weekend Recap: Snowdown in the Rob Yeates Corral

Snowdonia Marathon:
Just six days after breaking the club marathon record with his 2:30 marathon Rob Michaelson-Yeats took it easy by running a 2:47 marathon. His ‘easy’ run included going up and down Snowdon as he finished 6th overall. We were under the impression he was going to run it easy but when the fire is hot you might as well run up and down a mountain, over 26+ miles, fall over several times and still clock a 2:47.

Brueton parkrun:
With the England Rugby match and horrible cold downpours making parkrun particularly uninviting an option on Saturday it was left to a few hardy souls to splash around, get cold and miserable and walk home in soggy socks. Gary Polhill ran a solid 17:25 followed by Habib Farazmand (18:21) and Darren John (18:43).

Kerry Ann Thompson didn’t let the conditions get in the way of a 22:42 as she was second overall. Kate Marsh ran a PB of 22:58 and Adeba Jama clocked 26:04.

Joining the PB party was Sandra Boot in 26:10 as she continued to improve rapidly.

Basildon parkrun:
Simon Battson found himself in Essex and the only thing to do in Essex on a Saturday morning is either parkrun or the walk of shame. Luckily SImon ran 24:27.

Torbay Velopark parkrun:
David John just missed breaking 29 for the second time with a 29:07 in manky conditions.

Longrun Meadow parkrun:
George de Bolla ran a swift 17:46 in the meadow of Long Runs. Which is I think where Ultra runners go to die. Like an Elephant graveyard.

Holkham parkrun:
Number 1 Wainwright this week was Zach Wainwright – a cracking win for the Under-10 as he beat Pappa Wainwright, Ainsley 22:42 to 22:43.

Blackpool parkrun:
Mary Heald ran a super 20:58 as we frankly refuse to let her go easily.

Woolacombe Dunes parkrun:
Sarah Connors picked a great weekend to hit the seaside – and one of the hardest parkruns in the country. Her 30:49 was a great effort given conditions and terrain.

Pont y Bala parkrun:
Picking up one of his Pont’s in the Full Ponty Challenge Pete Makepeace ran 21:37.

Babbs Mill parkrun:
Phil Wood was the sole K&D Rep at Babbs Mill – a 22:34 put him top-15.

Warwick Racecourse parkrun:
Following in the Chair’s footsteps last week, we had 4 K&D in Warwick this week – Jon Beech led the charge in 24:46, Kev Tomkinson, the pre-race favourite took the outside line in 26:17, Ian Maidment cleared all the fences in 27:57 and Alison Giblin gave Kev a black eye after he made one too many old nag jokes. She also ran 30:35. If someone falls and breaks a leg at Warwick Racecourse parkrun do they… y’know? *Makes shotgun sound*
