Weekend Recap: Storm Brian’s Not the Messiah He’s a Very Windy Boy

Stroud Half Marathon:

No wind problems for Gary Wickett as he continued his romp around the country in aid of Meningitis Now. Gary ran 2:01:00. On the nose.

Brueton parkrun:

With legs full of matathons and half marathon’s, the stomach full of curry from our celebration night out on the Friday and the park full of wind (not curry related) it was never likely to be a super fast Saturday at Brueton for K&D.

Darren John, Paul Williams and Max Gimson led the K&D men home on Sat. A very tired Darren just managed to keep his Sub-18 Brueton steak going (24 runs) in 17:58. Paul clocked 19:08 and Max 20:56.

Special mention too for Anthony Dutton who ran his fastest parkrun since Jan 2017 (23:30). After a long injury spell out it’s great to see him back and moving well.

A 23:43 for Siobhan Cotter saw her finish first for our women. Kate Marsh’s marathon efforts were cleared from her legs as she finished 2nd in 25:55 and Claire Maggs ran 26:06 for the third podium spot.

Congrats to Estelle Palmer who made her Brueton debut. Paul O’Donnell (22:36) and Subhash Agarwalla (25:46) who ran their best ever Brueton parkrun’s.

Coventry parkrun:

Ian Maidment enjoyed a Saturday at War Memorial park running 30:18.

Bideford parkrun:

Peter Harvey ran a 27:46 down at Bideford.

Tampere parkrun:

At Finland’s first parkrun friend of the club and Scandinavian former member Riina Kuuselo ran the national Women’s parkrun record (Only 2 parkrun’s in Finland ever but still…) in 20:12. They had a giant Moomin turn up last week. Riina finished 1st out of 54 runners.
