Weekend Recap: Summer Running, Having a Blast

Budapest Night Run Half:
The better of our pair of Maggs enjoyed a ladies weekend with her youngest sprog as they took to Budapest. The two Maggs ladies enjoyed their time in the Hungarian capital; taking in a leisurely run and enjoying the sights. Meanwhile Darren Maggs was skipping the end of his Sunday long run with the lads and getting the bus…

Cairns parkrun:
Paul Jeffrey ran 30:47 in Cairns parkrun in Australia. Amazing considering he’d have done it upside down in the Southern hemisphere.

Brueton parkrun:
European Age-Group Champ Jack Bristow (he now insists we call him that) went for broke on Sat at parkrun, going out faster than a cat with it’s tail on fire. He blew up but still held on to finish first K&D’er in 18:27.  Paul Bentley ran 19:06 to finish secon to Jack and Chris Morgan rounded out the top 3 for K&D with a comfortable 20:19.

Our women were led home by the ever-superb Jane Hunt. Jane ran an excellent 22:38. Jane was followed home by Jude Mansfield in 24:52 and Kate Marsh in 25:00.

Paul Winwood ran a smashing parkrun PB of 23:03. He should have gone faster though. He’d have gone under 23:00 then. His PB jamboree was joined by Gareth Lloyd in 27:47, Phil Wood who would woo with his 100th parkrun and a PB in 22:17 and Richard Orriel ran 21:21 for a numerically great PB.

Coventry parkrun:
Cov played host to Kevin Tomkinson on Saturday. A trot round for Kevin in 27:16.

Carlisle parkrun:
Northern run for Ian Maidment as he traversed the length of the country to run 25:47. What’s it like in the North? Do they have electricity yet?

Doncaster parkrun:
Donny saw a dose of Katie Price on Saturday as 27:57 again up’t Northern-way.

Exeter Riverside parkrun:
Fast and flat along the riverside in sunny Devon saw Elizabeth Williams clock a 26:13. Alongside Torbay Velopark parkrun about the only flat run in Devon!

Stratford-upon-Avon parkrun:
Anthony Dutton led the charge like Coriolanus (that’s a Shakespeare play and not me being rude about Anthony). Dutton ran 19:00. Karen Ratcliffe ran 26:45; the classiest performance in Stratford since Dame Maggie Smith was treading the boards in Macbeth.
