The Women’s XC produced a really promising season debut in the Midland Women’s XC League. Jane Evans delivered an excellent second place over all, reaffirming her recent excellent parkrun form. Run of the day though was Rosie Marsh who produced an brilliant 18th place (9th Senior) on her cross country debut. Showing off the brilliant progress she has made this year. Clare Magee continued her excellent return with a storming 40th place overall while Elaine Callinan (67th), Rachel Aston (92nd) and Tracey Beavan (129th) all dug in for the team. The women finished in 6th place overall with our masters team in 7th out of 24 teams!
In last years season opener our only four women finished 2nd, 25th, 67th and 99th.
For our team to score 127 points, in comparison to last year’s 193pts is a massive improvement and testament to how hard our women have worked. With Jude and Monica to return post-NY marathon and hopefully Kathy and others too it is brilliant to see our women’s cross country team thriving. Last year we could only field 4 runners in the first race of the season. Seeing our team growing is a real thrill as more women discover the joys and benefits of a cross country season. If you are interested in joining the fun for the next race just drop Kathy an email. Cross country welcomes runners of any and all standards. It’s all about the team work that makes the dream work.
