Robin Hood Half:

Often found in green and fond of Gold; Robin Hood would make a perfect K&D Team member. Chairman Darren returned to his old uni stomping ground… and ended up going much the way of many of his post freshers mornings. Feeling sick with a headache. A three-day bout of a ‘poorly tummy’ in the run up meant despite a decent first 10k the second half was a mess of bloated bleurgh. He threw in the PB Pace Towel and trotted home in a grumpy 1:27:11. Summary: Did not enjoy his morning.

He was joined by his better half Kate Marsh who ran 1:53:22 – consolidating her recent 1:52 PB – despite her sweet potato and halloumi burger containing a big sheet of plastic the day before (and had to put up with Chairman Darren spending their weekend away in Notts in bed with hot flushes on Sat night from 7pm!). Poor Kerfuffle Kate! Also in the field was Rachel Aston who’s 1:55:33 only narrowly missed her 2015 PB and showing good form following her recent parkrun PB.

Ealing Half:

Clive Dickens ventured to the wilds of Ealing for the highly rated Ealing Half. Clive clocked a classy 1:39:57. Ealing receives great reviews each year and we look forward to seeing if Clive thought it met the hype.

Cannon Hill parkrun:

With Brueton cancelled due to unexpected visitors Cannon Hill played temporary home to a number of K&D. A strong showing saw our gents take 3 of the top 4 spots.

Gareth Wainwright survived not knowing where he was going to run 17:01. All done while constantly asking for directions. With conditions slippy under foot Chris Morgan finished third overall in 17:30 and a peaky Darren John rounding out in 17:33.
Subhash Agarwalla ran 28:02, Karen Stapley 28:47, Kate Marsh 25:54 and Rob Stewart 25:55. Kate Marsh also finished her 100th parkrun and now joins that esteemed club.

Coventry parkrun:

With K&D scattered to the non-Brueton wind Russell Singleton and Chris Quarmby both caught the Coventry fun bus and ran 23:32 and 27:18.

Cannock Chase parkrun:

Although his membership has lapsed due to 12 months of injury nightmare Anthony Dutton popped up in Cannock Chase to run 30:40. Good to see him edging back into it!
Arrow Valley parkrun:

The Arrow Valley Three, not three escaped farm animals but actually our Redditch ex-pats for the morning. Martin Hancock ran 22:58, Kay Adenipekun finished in 24:41 while Claire Deeley closed out the team in 30:23.

Kingsbury Water parkrun:

And finally of our tour of the local parkrun scene to Kingsbury where Edward Long didn’t take long to finish, running 20:56. He was followed by Nigel Foster (25:39), Darren Maggs (26:41), Amanda Crees (28:16) and Tanya Cronin (31:26).

Lets hope normal service is resumed next week!

Berlin Marathon:

Three of K&D’s finest, Chris Sharp, Sim14469676_10153766152355933_3314299884853849180_non Bentley and Torsten Roesler took part in the fast and flat Berlin Marathon this weekend. No idea what is happening here but just look at the fear in Chris’ eyes…

Simon looks worryingly at ease in the German neck massage dungeon.

Baljit Chohan also appeared in Germany according to the official results.

Chris Sharp ran 2:38:53
Torsten Roesler ran 2:57:07
Baljit Chohan 3:17:18

Simon Bentley hit 30k in 2:04 however did not finish; we hope he was taking the sensible option and it isn’t anything too painful. Get a couple of early Oktoberfest beers down you captain, we’ll call them medicinal.

Here is Torsten introducing the guys to his big brother.

Ben Nevis Ultra

Continuing our recent trend of the K&D members going a bit wild is news of Phil Elwell doing the Ben Nevis Ultra – 40 miles round Ben Nevis in 7:39 ; 2nd year he has done this race. Because 40 miles isn’t hard enough, you might as well throw a mountain in there too. Read more
