Up there it is. The ‘Up’ being another hill. K&D rolled into Kenilworth’s home turf with Tag Team’s 1993 Party-Rap hit blaring and the cars bouncing at 8am. Paraphrasing as we spat sick beats in our freshest sneaks (that means sneakers for our members over 50) we marvelled at possibly the best quality free race pins ever. Clearly where the budget went this year. I mean, the strength of the pin was just superb amd the firm tension.. erm, yeah, anyway, results.

As always the Two Castles 10k gives K&D’s finest excellent opportunity to practice their hill work a they charge between battlements. Carrying the standard this year was Chris Sharp for the men who finished 6th overall and 2nd Male Vet in 34:36 and Rocket-Girl (Burning down the streets of Kenilworth) Rachel Gifford who was 1st Senior Lady and 2nd Overall on her Two Castles Debut. And on only 12 hours notice of getting a bib. Rachel ran 38:01 and would have been the men’s 6th counter.

Also celebrating was Jane Hunt with a superb 2nd in her age category.

It was another huge K&D turn-out with 55 green and gold. Leading the PB Brigade was Steven Whatmore (37:46), Kelly Cridland (1:08:11), Kerry Thompson (49:25), Rachel Wood (1:17:50), James Hillier (49:06), Sam Morgan (54:13) and Adeba Jama (54:14).

Reminder: It is The Arden 9 on Sunday 16th. If you aren’t running please do consider volunteering and email kdrunningclub@gmail.com – we seem to be short on volunteer numbers this year despite 250+ members and it is vital for safety will fill all posts. The organising committee (of 3) work super hard to pull everything together and all we ask is a couple of hours of your time once a year. I know it’s Father’s Day but trust us your Dad doesn’t like you that much anyway and you’ll be back for the Roast Dinner.

Man vs. Horse Marathon

A 22ish mile marathon through the beautiful welsh countryside was invaded by a number of our most adventurous men. The Man vs. Horse is one of the most difficult and iconic adventure races in British running. Four K&D men can now count themselves among finishers of this event. Adding their own sprinkle of history in the record books. In the words of Chris Thorley… Read more

Having been run since 1983 the annual Two
Castles 10km returned on Sunday 12th June as
race four in the Ckv9Co0XEAAaLVaWarwickshire Road Race League. With several thousand competitors including the general public Two Castles can often be a logistical challenge; especially as the start is particularly narrow; those medieval architects and builders presumably didn’t consider the implications of their work on runners almost one thousand years later.

The nights are getting lighter, the daffodils have sprouted (do daffodils sprout?) and the weather is improving (well, mostly)…all conclusive evidence that Spring is finally here.

Which means it’s time to dispense of your running tights, long sleeved tops and waterproof jackets and dig out the short shorts.  It also means the Warwickshire Road Race League is here too.

The League is a series of 11 races over the course of the summer months including races from 5k up to half marathon all hosted by different clubs within Warwickshire.

The league includes our very own Arden 9 for which entries are now open on myraceapp and RunnersWorld…and if you don’t enter you may well get drafted to help out organising the race (you have been warned!).

These races are great fun and cater for runners of all abilities.  If you want to know more about the league please visit the Warwickshire Road Race League website.  This has details of all of the races and how the league works, as well as results from previous years.

Entry for this years Two Castles 10K opens at midday on this Monday coming 2nd March.

Many of you will know from previous experience that the race is always immensely popular so if you want to run….get in quick!

This year Two Castles is on Sunday 14th June and as it is again a fixture on the Warwickshire Road Race League calendar a good K&D turnout is important.

So get on the website as soon after midday on Monday as you possibly can and enter.

We have been allocated a small number of Club places which we have to take up by midnight on Saturday 7th March so if you try to enter and find the race is full, and definitely want to run, email me at richarddixon66@gmail.com. Obviously, the sooner you do this the better!
