Weekend Recap: Hello 2017
Umbrellas at the ready. 2017 started in a torrential downpour. It was cold and wet. Even the ducks thought “Nope. Not today”.
Brueton parkrun:
Darren John was first K&D man across the line in awful conditions. He ran 18:55. Dave Carbutt was just behind in 19:20. Rob Ambrose took third in 20:08. The conditions put paid to anything approaching fast times.
Amanda O’Leary toughed out the driving wind and rain to run a solid 22:26 while #KillerKathy Kathy Bailer ran 23:39. Sarah Cattell rounded out the top-3 with a 26:13.
Unsurprisingly there were no PB’s in miserable conditions.
Kingsbury Water parkrun
A new years double is usually a much anticipated event, Brueton followed by a quick dash over to Kingsbury Water parkrun. But alas, in such rotten conditions numbers were down this year.
A few oddballs still ploughed on regardless though. Temperatures dropped noticeably between Brueton and Kingsbury though.
David Carbutt got revenge for Brueton pipping Darren John 19:09 to 19:42. Craig Campbell took third in his second parkrun of the day running 23:21.
Sarah Cattell completed her 100th and 101st parkruns on New Years Day. She celebrated by finishing first K&D lady at Kingsbury in 26:03. Kate Marsh was second in 28:19 and Kerry Whitehill ran 28:18 for third.
Congrats to all those potty otters who ran both. Your dedication is probably significantly higher than your common-sense. Hope you’ve dried out.
Great Running Team.
