The big news at parkrun this weekend was a stunning 16:31 by Bedford AC’s Katrina Wootton breaking our very own Jane Evans’ course record. I hope Jane doesn’t feel too disappointed, Wootton is #16 All Time in the UK over 10k. That 16:31 is the 2nd fastest UK parkrun in 2016 by a female athlete. It show’s just how great Jane Evan’s course record was that it took an international class athlete to take it from her!
23 K&D Athletes turned out at Brueton this weekend; many of them doing the Brueton/Arden double this weekend. With many of our runners saving themselves for Sunday’s Arden 9 there was only the one PB this week.
Lynsey Drakeley lowered her PB again to 30:38. A five and a half minute improvement since she started parkrunning in February of this year. A sensational improvement.
For the men Paul Williams was first male runner home in 20:42. He was followed by John Garside and Brian Corr in 21:55 and 21:57 respectively.
On the ladies side Sarah Cattell ran 25:00 to be first lady home for the club. Katie Oliver ran 28:34 and Lynsey Drakeley followed closely behind in 30:38.
Elsewhere Darren John indulged in a little tourism and ran 18:27 at Cannon Hill parkrun while Ian Maidment managed to avoid A Comedy of Errors (*groan*) running 24:38 at Stratford-Upon-Avon parkrun. He played down the run saying it was ‘Much Ado About Nothing’ (*double groan*).
Good Running Team K&D!
