Weekend Recap: parkrun, Comrades, London 10000

Brueton parkrun:

Some great performances on Saturday with a K&D winner in the men’s race and 3 men in the top five!

Recent joinee Gareth Wainwright ran 17:17 for 1st, Darren John was 3rd in 18:18 and Richard Dixon 5th in 18:38.

On the ladies side Amanda O’Leary was 3rd lady home in 20:32.

We also had a number of excellent PB’s:

Paul O’Donnell dipped under his previous 23:00 pb with a 22:59 clocking and a Colin Jackson-esque dip on the line.
Louise Taylor lowered her pb from 28:45 to 28:27.
Caroline Edwards dropped 15 seconds to go from 29:53 down to 29:38.
Lynsey Drakely scored a hattrick of pb’s. Going from 32:31, to 32:24 and this week lowering that further to 31:39. A fantastic improvement.

Well done to all who ran and congrats to those that PB’d.

Comrades:

Over the weekend everyone’s favourite South African Kevin Boake (Sorry Nelson Mandela you’re only #2 in Knowle) ran a 41 minute course and 13 minute overall pb in the iconic Comrades marathon to set a PB of 8:34:14. Thats 89km or 56 miles of running for the uninitiated in Comrades lore. Kevin was joined this year by Phil Elwell representing the old green and gold. Phil ran 10:48:31. Both men have earned a very hearty congratulations from everyone back in Knowle and Dorridge for their amazing show of determination/lunacy/guts (delete as applicable).
