Snowdonia Marathon:
Congratulations to Karen Ratcliffe who took on the fast and flat (LOL!) Snowdonia Marathon. Karen ran 4:58:56 for the marathon distance. A more than respectable time for any marathon that doesn’t include a mountain!

Life’s little up’s and down’s!

Brueton parkrun:
A quietish K&D weekend at Brueton was enlivened by a brand new female inductee into the sub-20 club. Emma Horsfield stormed round in a  19:52 PB as the women continued to smash barriers over the last few weeks. That puts Emma 5th fastest K&D woman at Brueton ever, booting Mary out the top-4 by a mere 4seconds. We doubt it’s the end of that little tooing and fro-ing in the near future

Emma on Saturday was joined by Kerry Ann Thompson who ran 21:51 and Louise Bell who ran 23:38.

The gents had the headlines stolen from them by the women this week. That didn’t stop Pete Makepeace climbing the podium summit. Running 19:23, Pete just missed his PB. Warning though, Gary Polhill who just joined K&D was ran 19:17 but misses out by just a few days on a week 1 podium. Paul Bentley and Anthony Dutton rounded out the K&D Top-3 this week with a 19:31 and 19:34.

Joining Emma Horsfield in the PB Teepee this week is Jack Whitehouse who rewrote his parkrun PB with a 22:11.

Ipswich parkrun:
Which Witch is Rob Michaelson Yeates Twitching? His 18:05 got in a pre-Halloween win at Ips-witch Parkrun.

Walsall Arboretum parkrun:
A coven of Calvert, Partridge and Taylor attended Walsall Arboretum parkrun on Saturday as Lissy, Gail and Penny enchanted their way to runs of 29:15, 29:40 and 30:08.

Coventry parkrun:
The only thing scary about Coventry parkrun is that ring road on the way in. Shudders. Simon Battson survived to run 25:01

Holkham parkrun:
Ainsley put the (f)right in Wainwright as he ran 26:10 in Holkham.

As ususal.. if there is anything we’ve missed pop it in the comments box on facebook!

Brueton parkrun:

Sizzling Bank Holiday Weekend running in Brueton as Jack Bristow’s 17:34 saw him finish 6th. The first finisher was 9th fastest in the UK on Saturday in 15:23. Paul Bentley took 2nd K&D runner with 19:01 while Jonathon Randell clocked 19:22 to take the K&D third spot.

Our women were led home by Jane Hunt who’s 22:52 scored 81% age grading. Kerry Whitehill took this week’s K&D silver medal in 27:59 while Kate Marsh ran 28:32 following a sore foot last week.

Richard Orriel continued his recent improvements with another PB, dropping his best to 20:54. Top work Richard!

Barrow parkrun:
Winner, Winner, Chicken Dinner. Jonathon Bellman took the sweet taste of victory in Barrow. His 19:06 took the first place finishers token. Congrats JB.

Troon parkrun:
No problems keeping in Troon for Claire Maggs as she ran 27:33 at Troon parkrun.

Sheringham parkun:
A parkrun named after former England forward and notable lothario Teddy Sheringham?  Phil Wood (not named after Teddy Sheringham) ran 24:27.

Colby parkrun:
Gareth Wainwright took a long overdue break from Brueton parkrun. We’re beginning to think he actually just lives in Brueton park. Venturing to Colby he still clocked a sub-18, running 17:40 to take be the second man to take the first finishers token this week (although technically the first as he ran quicker than Jonny).

Gedling parkrun:
Gedling for Uber-tourist Kevin Tomkinson who added another parkrun to his growing CV. Kev enjoyed a 29:31 run.

Holkham parkrun:
Wainwright’s on tour as Ainsley clocked up a 20:30 in Holkham.

Torbay Velo parkrun:
Darren John’s lungs gave him trouble again after last weeks promising return to being able to run without wheezing. He ran 21:12 without oxygen. Humpf.

Dolgellau parkrun:
Quickest K&D of the week was Chris Sharp who rounded out three K&D men’s first placers this week. #Dominant. Chris ran 16:58. Not to be left out Flick Sharp ran a swift 20:32 for second woman.

We didn’t spot any of you around the country this weekend. Presumably you were all off working hard on Sunday long runs? Or if you’re Kathy baking pre-NYC Trip Cookies and Flapjacks. Which looked fantastic.  Otherwise here’s you’re remaining baked goods-free (*sad face emoji*) weekend recap…

Brueton parkrun:

You wait three years to get the position number 1 token at parkrun then two come along in three weeks. Chairman Darren took advantage of a quiet week at the front to run 17:48 and finish first overall at Brueton. Jane Evans showed good form to push him hard though – she clocked 17:58. That’s Jane’s 46th first finish for the women. Putting her only 4 behind Peter Brookes who holds the men’s title with 50. Will we see a woman sitting at the top of the tree soon? Glass Ceilings Smashed.

It was a Chairman Party for the men with the Obama to Darrens Trump*… Jonathan Randall running 18:56 for second K&D man while Edward Long finished third man in 20:03.

*These Nukes, Bad People, I don’t know if you saw my innaugauration crowds? Biggest in Knowle, Bigly. Nukes. Uranium. Bad People. Johnathan Randalls Emails. FBI…

Sorry. Where were we? Oh Yes..

Following the excellent efforts of Jane Evans was Louse Bell who is training well on Wednesday nights and running well at weekends. She ran 23:34 to finish ahead of third woman Jan Hornby. I believe this is Jan’s first time on the women’s podium so congrats on her time of 26:26.

Congrats to Nigel Collins who showed great post-marathon training benefits with an excellent 26:17 PB! Subhash Agarwalla continued his fine improvement with a 25:28 PB and Neil Letham ran 24:33 showing that the blokes we’re on fire this weekend. Not to be outdone though Lennie Watson ran 44:07 to set a new PB and strike one back for the women. Read more

Brueton parkrun:

With the athletics sizzling finally for Team GB it was an international runner that stole the headlines at Brueton on Saturday as Katrina Wootton (10th UK All-Time over 10k) rocked up and lowered the course record for women down to a ridiculous 16:20. Behind her some of our very best men tried in vain to keep up. Gareth Wainwright was closest in 17:07 and Darren John huffed his way across the line in a leggy 17:53. They were followed by Paul Williams in 19:27. Moral of the story – if Katrina Wootton passes you don’t try to keep up. It’ll be a tough old 4.5km after!

While our women might not be quite as quick Mary Heald lay down a 22:34 to warm up for this weeks inter-club run. Louise Bell put in a good 23:36 and Kate Marsh made it 3 Top-3’s in a row with 25:14.

Wootton wasn’t the only PB on Saturday as our club put up a new personal best from Sarah Church (37:30). Doesn’t matter how fast – a PB is a PB!

Coventry parkrun:

Tricky Dicky, Richard Dixon went over to Memorial park and ran 19:01

Arrow Valley:

Peter Austin and Lynsey Drakeley both turned up at Arrow Valley in Redditch recording times of 21:28 and 30:56

Cannon Hill parkrun

Continuing the Midland parkrun theme new boy Jack Bristow took a K&D bow in 19:04 over by the MAC

Telford parkrun:

Still close to home and John Garside in 22:10 was to be found in Telford.

Lanhydrock parkrun:

Ann Spencer-Dowdeswell ran 34:23 at her regular non-Brueton haunt of Lanhydrock.

Wetherby parkrun:

The -by in Wetherby indicates a viking settlement as the by is often used in the first settlements of viking invaders. Viking Fact. Jane Evans ran 18:33 to finish second overall at Wetherby parkrun.

Holkham parkrun:

Stephen Ray landed in the vicinity of late-night radio superstar Alan Partridge, rocking up at North Norfolk’s Holkham parkrun. He ran 22:25. Aha!

Dublin Marathon14915274_667837540060818_43195492572811662_n

Over in Dublin Monica Green made a late in the year PB marathon dash. In the appropriately coloured Green of Knowle & Dorridge she finished 9th in her category. She ran a very swift 3:24:08. That is only just outside the top 100 in her age category on the runbritain.com rankings for the year. Hope she got a celebratory Guinness after.

Brueton parkrun

Not content with going sub 17 for the first time last week Gareth Wainwright did it again. Currently building up for New York Marathon Gareth is in cracking form and ran 16:48. Darren John’s recovery continued as he ran his fastest 5k since he broke himself back in July with an 18:41 for second K&D man. Right behind him was Paul Williams who was only 3 seconds off his PB running 19:12.

Siobhan Cotter was first K&D lady this week; and celebrated with a shiny new PB of 22:23. Kathy Bailey was close behind in 22:29 with Jane Hunt continuing her good form in 22:40. It’s great to see those ladies pushing each other on to faster times as a group. Read more
