As some of you will have seen on social media John Garside recently completed 12 marathons in 12 months. Having ran throughout 2019 John ran…

Charles Darwin (Shrewsbury)
Ground Hog Day (Telford – Around a 400m Running Track!!)
Boston (UK!!)
Milton Keynes
Lakeland Trails Ultra
San Francisco
Bath Two Tunnels
Loch Ness
November Nightmare (Telford)
Portsmouth Coastal

Technically it is 15 in 15 months he also did marathons in Oct, Nov and Dec 2018:

The Pumpkin (Telford)
Nottingham Christmas Marathon

John says:

“It was a target for this year as a milestone age for me this year! I struggled a bit from the summer onwards with my knee – seemed ok yesterday though despite all the mud! So fingers crossed for 2020. I will definitely be running marathons next year again although not 12 will give the summer ones a miss. In total I have done 29 now. Hopefully Gloucester in January .”

Congratulations to John. Strong, with this one, the Force is.

Berlin Marathon:

Three of K&D’s finest, Chris Sharp, Sim14469676_10153766152355933_3314299884853849180_non Bentley and Torsten Roesler took part in the fast and flat Berlin Marathon this weekend. No idea what is happening here but just look at the fear in Chris’ eyes…

Simon looks worryingly at ease in the German neck massage dungeon.

Baljit Chohan also appeared in Germany according to the official results.

Chris Sharp ran 2:38:53
Torsten Roesler ran 2:57:07
Baljit Chohan 3:17:18
Simon Bentley hit 30k in 2:04 however did not finish; we hope he was taking the sensible option and it isn’t anything too painful. Get a couple of early Oktoberfest beers down you captain, we’ll call them medicinal.

Here is Torsten introducing the guys to his big brother.

Ben Nevis Ultra

Continuing our recent trend of the K&D members going a bit wild is news of Phil Elwell doing the Ben Nevis Ultra – 40 miles round Ben Nevis in 7:39 ; 2nd year he has done this race. Because 40 miles isn’t hard enough, you might as well throw a mountain in there too. Read more

Believe it or not (I don’t) but another year has whizzed by and 2015 is looming large on the horizon.  And that can only mean one thing.  It’s Jantastic time.  Jantastic is a great motivator for getting you in to your running kit and out the door on those cold, dark nights in the new year – and it’s for everyone, whether you’re a complete beginner or super fast elite runner.  It’s especially good for anyone targeting a Spring race, whether it’s your first 5k or a marathon pb attempt.

Jantastic is run by the guys at Marathon Talk and involves participants setting themselves running targets for January, February and March.  January is all about setting a target number of runs per week you’re going to do.  All you nee to do is register on the Fantastic website, set your target and most important of all join our team – Knowle and Porridge Running Club.  By joining the team you’ll be able to see what your club mates are doing and whether they are hitting their targets (and you can use this information in any way you see fit!).

Our men’s captain is in….are you?

Good luck to all those attempting the virtual London Marathon!
