Little late 70’s, early 80’s reference for you there. It wasn’t all just Arden 9 running this weekend we had plenty of other runners out and about ‘enjoying’ the blistering heat.

Chase the Train

No, not some slang from Trainspotting about illicit drug use in Edinburgh in 1996 – in fact it is an 8.4 mile race up and down the fells in the North Yorks Moors. Last week our men raced a horse. This week Caroline and Graham Edwards raced a train. What’s next? Torsten races a Boeing?

Caroline and Graham didn’t run out of steam, or get carriage-d away. They kept chugging up the hills and stayed on track. Running on the Moors provides a great platform. I’m sure it’ll be just the ticket to new PB’s. Graham let Caroline have his seat in 2:01:31 while Graham took 2:08:32. No delays with them getting in. Read more

Bratislava Duathlon

Congratulations to Elaine Callinan for collecting silver medal in age category representing GBR at aquathlon in Bratislava yesterday.

Edinburgh Marathon Festival

Congratulations to Emma Lowe who ran Edinburgh Marathon. She smashed a 4:25:33. No mean feat on one of the hottest weekends of the year.

Over the weekend a number of our most quiet and dignified ladies also ran the EMF 10k. You may have seen their updates over the weekend on social media. They seemed to have a riot of a time inb the luxurious Haggis Hostel. Results were as follows:

Claire Maggs – 58:39
Ann Spencer-Dowdeswell – 1:00:54
Emily King – 1:11:55
Fiona Holland – 1:12:10
Michelle McHugh – 1:22:58

Vitality 10000

The British 10k Road Championships took place in London on Bank Holiday Monday as 12,000 runners took to the streets of London. Jo Pavey and Andrew Butchart took the Women’s and Men’s titles; Andy Butchard retained his title having flown back from the Eugene Diamond League meeting where he ran the 5000 on Saturday night. Who needs Jet lag?

K&D had a posse of runners out. Results were as follows:

Warwickshire XC Champs:

Joe Read and Emma Donnelly were our top finishers at the Warwickshire XC Champs on Saturday. I’m going to be controversial and say Beacon Hill is way worse an obstacle than the ditch. Both Joe and Emma dealt with Leamington’s infamous course with aplomb though.

Joe finished in a smashing 37:24 for 10th place in the Senior Men’s race.

Emma ran 31:30 for 29th place in the Senior Women’s race. Read more

Coombe 8:

A traditional winter warmer of an off-road race saw a welcome return to running for Dave Monk. The Coombe 8 is organised by Sphinx AC, and as the only K&D runner this year Dave Monk has the distinction of being first runner home. Dave ran 1:25:30 for 8 miles on the trails. Results Here
