Note: The Hall is out of action tomorrow night. Please meet at Dorridge Station at 7:20. Sorry for the last minute notice.

Warwick Half:
Despite awful weather the K&D Chaps turned out in their Sunday best to demolish the course. They were flying. K&D were led round by Rob Michaelson-Yeates who topped off a superb winter by nipping into the 1:15’s.

Rhayader Round the Lakes:
Lads on Tour at the Rhayader Round . The picturesque 20 miler formed the perfect backdrop to a weekend away. The peleton is observing a strict vow of omerta about any mischief they got up to. A contender for picture of the year goes to Max Mladenovic who looks like a cross between Chitty Chitty Bang Bang’s Child Catcher and a Dad who’s just found his son nicking his whiskey out the drinks cabinet.

The gents had a superb time running the 30k. Tim celebrated taking the honours for the day with a 64oz steak. If you’re going to run 19 miles or so you might as well celebrate in style!

Groundhog Day Marathon:
John Garside ran 26.2 miles but was never more than 400m from the start line as he ran the 105 1/2 laps in 3:54:21. The weirdo.

A massive congrats to everyone who ran. There are so many of you now it takes the factory of small children your committee employs to write these reports ages to catch up with all your results. Good job we don’t pay them per result.

Centurions GP:

The marathon and half-marathon training is starting to kick in. In fresh conditions K&D’s rag-tag gang of misfits tore around Babbs Mill lake like hoodlum’s up to no good. Chairman Darren was first home in fourth overall, equalling his PB with a 28:32. Exactly the same time he ran on 5th Feb 2017. Weird. Rosie Marsh took a big old chunk of her PB as first K&D woman. Rosie ran 33:12 smashing her previous best of 33:53.

Behind Darren the second K&D man home was Greg Turner who also PB’d. His cross country season is paying off as he ran 32:07. Paul Williams took third K&D man, returning after a several week layoff to run 33:57.

Behind Rosie, Emma Lowe ran her first ever 5 miler. Setting her PB at 34:49. A more than respectable time for a first effort. Louise Bell rounded out the Top-3 with a 37:49.

Congrats go to Siobhan Cotter and Gary Welsh who both won prizes in the Midland Masters Handicap Race. A bottle of bubbly for Siobhan and chocolates for Gary.

South Devon Coastal Trail Half

Hills, glorious hills. On the beautiful South Devon Coast Gary Wickett knocked 30 minutes of hiss course PB to run 3:13 on the tough cliff top course.

Brueton parkrun

The appeal has gone out for anyone willing to step forward and lead a second parkrun in Solihull. If you have bundles of enthusiasm for running, health and community and are interested email bruetonhelpers@parkrun.com.

Gareth Wainwright took the reigns as he sped round parkrun in a swift 17:16. He was followed by Darren John in 17:43 and Rob Michaelson-Yates in 18:03 as all three men ran quickly through damp morning. Kate Marsh was the first K&D lady on Saturday, just missing out on her PB but still running 24:41. Sarah Cattell took second in 25:28 and Katie Price rounded out the top three in 27:05.

Congratulation to Kay Adenipekun who clocked up his 50th parkrun!

In PB heaven were Paul O’Donnell, 22:25 and Russell Singleton 22:25. Blimey, they could have crossed the line holding hands! Superb running from those two.

Coventry parkrun

Coventry played host to Battson on tour as Simon Batson ran 26:21. 31 seconds faster than the week before at Cov.

Cannon Hill parkrun

Jonathon Bellman took it out in 24:42 at Birmingham’s biggest parkrun. His 10th time running there.

Belfast Victoria parkrun

Back in the green isle and Monica Green took it out hard in Belfast speeding round to a sub-21. Monica clocked 20:53.

Maidenhead parkrun

Rob Ambrose, who’s morning train buddies now with your journalistic chairman, clocked 20:52. High Five train buddy!

DEADLINE for The National XC Champs is 12th Dec.

Torsten and Kathy need to know ASAP if anyone is wanting to run. It’s an incredible race for all abilities. London day trip, lads/ladies day out, mud, few beers on the train back (or Pinot Grigo) and historic race at the home of XC. Just look how amazing that picture is…

The National is the best race in the UK. Full stop. And we encourage everyone to join in the fun. Email kdrunningclub@gmail.com if you want to run.

With the Centurions results gophers currently on strike due to Gavin Davies refusing to give them a pay rise it took a few more days for the results to land but it was well worth the wait.

It takes a bloody good runner these days to beat  our own Rosie Marsh so we’ll doff our caps to Sara Treacy. The international athlete turned up in Kingshurst to show that the Centurions GP is just as attractive as her appearances in the IAAF Diamond League or that time she ran in the 2016 3000m Women’s Steeple Chase Olympic Final. Rosie ran 34:09 and i’m sure doesn’t mind being second woman on this occasion.

Chairman Darren was Sara Tracey’s rabbit. Darren was on Sub 28 pace for 5k before fading slightly but still rocking a 28:38. His equal second fastest 5 mile time. K&D had their tradition massive turn out and Darren was just ahead of Paul Williams in 31:22 and Mike Day in 32:08. Rosie edged Louise Bell (37:40) and Jane Hunt (38:24).

There were PB’s-a-plenty over the 8km so congrats to everyone who is officially more awesome than they’ve ever been before.

Firstly thank you to everyone who helped at the K&D Takeover day. So many people pitched in that the day ran brilliantly despite the downpour. Cake was bountiful and you turned out in your droves.

New York Marathon

Big congrats to John Garside, Monica Green and Jude Mansfield who all ran the New York Marathon. Ticking off a bucket list race and a half in an electric atmosphere after Shalane Flannagan became the first USA women’s winner in 40 years.

Our own stars ran…

John Garside – 3:47:56
Monica Green – 4:18:02
Jude Mansfield – 4:18:03

A big word too for Kathy Bailey. While nursing injuries that kept her out of the big day we’re very proud of the support and captain’s spirit she has shown over the last few months. An absolute credit to herself and the club.

K&D were delighted to see Kathy get a 5k run in on her trip. You can’t keep our good Kathy down! A reminder for us to all #BeMoreKathy

Centurions GP #1

Blimey. Is it really that time of year again? With building work on Babbs Mill meaning a longer walk to the start and a narrow first mile it meant getting out hard and early to secure a decent position in the field. A great K&D turn out saw Chris Sharp, Rosie Marsh, Louise Bell, Paul Williams and Mary Heald all pick up overall or age group podium prizes.  Read more

The clocks are changing, which means the Centurions GP Series is back. Our friends at Centurions put on this excellent series annually of six races for £25.

Don’t quite feel ready for XC yet? Looking to break up those cold and dull winter runs with a local race? Enjoy seeing 90% of Brueton parkrun on Sunday Morning?

Centurions is perfect for newer runners who want to step up from 5k for the first time and for those with rockets in their shoes looking for a flat 5 miler with PB written all over it.  Two and a Half laps with plenty of runners at all paces. Geoff’s led a merry band of runners to Centurions every year and Chairman Darren is evangelical about the benefits of keeping racing through winter.

Six races for twenty-five quid, or a fiver per race. It’s fast, it’s flat, sometimes there are puddles; but it’s perfect for all abilities and full of local runners & clubmates.
