Brueton parkrun:

Sizzling Bank Holiday Weekend running in Brueton as Jack Bristow’s 17:34 saw him finish 6th. The first finisher was 9th fastest in the UK on Saturday in 15:23. Paul Bentley took 2nd K&D runner with 19:01 while Jonathon Randell clocked 19:22 to take the K&D third spot.

Our women were led home by Jane Hunt who’s 22:52 scored 81% age grading. Kerry Whitehill took this week’s K&D silver medal in 27:59 while Kate Marsh ran 28:32 following a sore foot last week.

Richard Orriel continued his recent improvements with another PB, dropping his best to 20:54. Top work Richard!

Barrow parkrun:
Winner, Winner, Chicken Dinner. Jonathon Bellman took the sweet taste of victory in Barrow. His 19:06 took the first place finishers token. Congrats JB.

Troon parkrun:
No problems keeping in Troon for Claire Maggs as she ran 27:33 at Troon parkrun.

Sheringham parkun:
A parkrun named after former England forward and notable lothario Teddy Sheringham?  Phil Wood (not named after Teddy Sheringham) ran 24:27.

Colby parkrun:
Gareth Wainwright took a long overdue break from Brueton parkrun. We’re beginning to think he actually just lives in Brueton park. Venturing to Colby he still clocked a sub-18, running 17:40 to take be the second man to take the first finishers token this week (although technically the first as he ran quicker than Jonny).

Gedling parkrun:
Gedling for Uber-tourist Kevin Tomkinson who added another parkrun to his growing CV. Kev enjoyed a 29:31 run.

Holkham parkrun:
Wainwright’s on tour as Ainsley clocked up a 20:30 in Holkham.

Torbay Velo parkrun:
Darren John’s lungs gave him trouble again after last weeks promising return to being able to run without wheezing. He ran 21:12 without oxygen. Humpf.

Dolgellau parkrun:
Quickest K&D of the week was Chris Sharp who rounded out three K&D men’s first placers this week. #Dominant. Chris ran 16:58. Not to be left out Flick Sharp ran a swift 20:32 for second woman.

Edinburgh Marathon Festival:

Kilts, Haggis, Scots and PB’s. It was a K&D onslaught up in the north as K&D’s finest took themselves round Arthur’s seat for both marathon and half-marathon fun.

There was an Atkin double, as Nick clocked a swift 3:29:27. Not far behind the was Hala Atkin in 4:01:59. That is some top, top running from those two!

In the Half Ann Spencer-Dowdeswell smashed her long-time sub 2 goal. Her run of 1:58:23 prompted a jig and some rather emotional scenes; some saw tears, but it might have just been dust in Ann’s eyes? Behind Ann were Jan ‘Treasurer’ Hornby in 2:07: 15 and Sian Davies. One of our Scottish contingent (Seriously, we have loads of ’em these days!) Sian ran 2:19:13 while Tanya Cronin clocked 2:41:42.

Brueton parkrun:

Sharp, Wainwright and Morgan made it a 1,2,3 at Brueton on Saturday. Quick times abound as the three men ran 16:54, 17:05 and 17:07. Although a 14 year old girl ran 16:56 in Sailsbury. So… yeah. Good luck fellas.

Mary Heald ran a parkrun buggy PB driving round in 22:30. We need to check if there is a motor in that buggy… Louise Marklew clocked 23:31 to take 2nd K&D woman and Jane Hunt finished 3rd in 23:43.

Nick Burke continued his improvement clocking 25:06 for another new PB.

Arrow Valley parkrun:

Peter Austin took himself off to the shaded Arrow Valley parkrun and ran 20:40 on the gently undulating course.

Rushcliffe parkrun:

Katie Price found herself in Rushcliffe on Saturday and clocked 28:25.

Workington parkrun:

Johnathon Bellman was in Workington from 9 to 5. Dolly Parton would be impressed. He ran their local parkrun in a swift 18:43.

Colby parkrun:

It wasn’t Lindsay Dalby in Colby; it was Pete Makepeace. Which doesn’t rhyme as well. Pete ran 20:46 though. Not bad at all!

Dartford parkrun:

Jack Bristow warmed up for the London 10000 with a dart around Dartford. His 18:12 took first place.

Northallerton parkrun:
John Garside enjoyed some Bank Holiday time in Northallerton up’t North. His 23:04 probably equates to a 14:32 when you take out the Yorkshire hills.

Stratford-Upon-Avon parkrun:
Darren John and Kate Marsh made it 7 parkruns in 7 weeks as they ran 17:35 and 25:36 opposite the RSC. Fact: Police were conducting barge to barge enquiries after someone escaped them by jumping in the river then night before.

Cirencester parkrun:
Russell Davies ran 21:29 in Cirencester. Tracey Davies ran… erm…. well we’ll never know because someone forgot her barcode. Rookie error.

Monty 5k: With some big distraction in London it was the turn of the WRRL to feature one of it’s shortest races of the year – the Monty 5k. In conditions more often found in the Costa del Sol K&D fielded 20 runners.

Torsten Roesler took the honours as first K&D man home clocking a nice sub-18 for 8th place. Torsten ran 17:53. Chris Revell backed Torsten up with a great 18:40 while Rob Ambrose just pipped Paul Williams 19:30 to 19:40.

Our women represented themselves with the usual distinction. New Women’s Team Captain Rosie Marsh marked her debut with a 20:36,  Karen Ratcliffe enjoyed a 26:14 while Amanda Crees took K&D bronze with 26:35.

PB’s below are based on official 5km races – not parkrun.

Brueton parkrun:

And so we say farewell to 2016. While Jools’ Hootenanny VIP list has been whittled down to The Chuckle Brothers and Boy George due to every other celeb popping their cloggs, our runners showed how they are fit as a fiddle by seeing out the final day of 2016 with running shoes on.

Gareth Wainwright was the first K&D runner home in 17:25. He was followed by Darren John in 18:17 and Michael Swann in 18:40. For the ladies Jane Evans was first home but didn’t scan her barcode; meaning the win goes to Flick Sharp in 19:58. She was followed by Sarah Cattell in 24:25 and Kerry Whitehill in 25:53.

In the PB booth for the New Years Celebrations were Craig Campbell in 21:02, James Taylor in 18:58 and Rob Houlston in 18:51. PB Corner is very masculine this week. You can almost smell the testosterone.

Congrats too to Steven Evans who joined the 50 club.

Also a massive well done to Sarah Cattell who joined the 100 club. Read more

New York Marathon

In the Big Apple, the city that never sleeps, home of Ross, Joey, Chandler, Rachel, Phoebe and Monica, our very own Gareth Wainwright clocked in a sharp 02:52:52 at the New York City Marathon. That grabbed him a top 500 finish; officially coming home in 422nd.

Centurions Grand Prix #1

14909900_1793083630904257_8844235640131075058_nCenturions, our nearest rivals, aren’t all bad. They do have the Centurions GP series to keep us going through winter so we’ll cut them some slack. Race 1 was blisteringly fast, an Irish ringer dropping in while visiting the area on a trip and leading the race home in a stunning 25:34. Ooft.

Richard Dixon was first K&D male runner home in 29:52. Emma Donnelly took that honour for our ladies in 36:53. Congratulations to the ladies that took home three of the prizes available. Emma Donnelly, Jane Hunt and Kathy Bailey all getting the nod in the post-race ceremonies.
