K&D Wellbeing Officer Information

Blog, News, Recently

[tmm name=”wellbeing-officer”]

Knowle & Dorridge have elected Katie Price as the club’s first Wellbeing Officer.

The Wellbeing Officer role has a dual function; Signposting and Liasion.

The Wellbeing Officer is not expected to treat club members but will be a confidential signposter for members who may need support with physical or mental health difficulties.

The Wellbeing Officer will also be a liasion between club members and committee members should there be any individuals in the club who feel treatement by committee or other individuals is impacting their wellbeing.

“As Chairman of K&D I see supporting our community as a vital function of the club. I have lived with Depression and Anxiety since my teenage years and am well aware of the ways mental and physical health conditions can impact on the lives of people. With running and our club I found a support network that helped me manage my illness, grow and achieve more than I’d have ever managed otherwise.

I am deeply supportive of ensuring all our members feel the same support should they find themselves in a time of need. I am pleased we have introduced a Wellbeing Officer to help support members should they experience difficulties or require support to mediate any disputes or issues they have. K&D will always have someone you can talk to.”

– Darren, K&D Chairperson

Katie Price has offered to share her experience of working in the field of supporting those living with mental health issues with our members. We thank her greatly for this. We hope she has a quiet two years because you are all healthy and happy but having her to support members is a massive step forward for the club.

The Wellbeing officer can be contacted on KDRCWellbeing@gmail.com

This is a confidential email address and only the Wellbeing Officer will have access to this inbox. The Wellbeing Officer’s contact details can always be found in the ‘About’ section on the K&D Hompage menu bar.

Club AGM – Wed 18th April

Blog, News

Please find the full notice of the Club’s Annual AGM as required by our Club Constitution. We will do a shorter run on the 18th followed by the Club AGM. It is very important people attend where possible.

Agenda:

Approval of last year’s minutes
Report of Men’s Captain
Report of Women’s Captain
Receive and approve accounts
Election of Officers:

The following Individuals are proposed, should you wish to stand and not be one of the below individuals you are welcome to do so. The club constitution allows for voting on the night. Anyone who would like to stand except those proposed should give notice at least 7 days prior to meeting.

Treasurer – Jan Hornby proposed
Ladies captain- Rosie Marsh Proposed
Membership secretary – Isabel Arthur Proposed

Non Management Roles:
Run leader Co coordinator – Jo Hitchcock
Welfare Officer – Katie Price

For purposes of consistency the same procedure for elected roles will be followed with Non-Management Roles, although there is no constitutional obligation to under  constitution clause 7.13 (nominate, delegate and assign specific tasks to officers or other members, whether or not they are already part of the management). It is good governance though.

We will also be looking for a Vice Chair to shadow Darren John in 2018/19 with a view to taking the club on in the future (be it 2020 or 2022). Should anyone wish to do so please do let the club know.  It is important to keep the club management rotating in order to share skills, development and maintain a freshness to the management.

K&D AGM – 18th April – Committee Roles to be Filled

Blog, News

Our annual AGM will take place on the 18th April this year.

Please note we are also having a committee meeting on 31st Jan. Should you have any issues you want to raise please speak to a committee member or email kdrunningclub@gmail.com

At our recent committee meeting we reviewed which roles will be up for renewal at the AGM, a bit of a way off, but plenty of time for members to think about taking on a role.  It’s fantastic to be part of the group leading such a successful running club.

Your club can only run due to the hard work of your committee; we encourage regular rotation of roles to keep the club fresh and diverse. A number of committee members are stepping down in April to allow others to contribute. Committee members will get first dibs on things like Helix Kit Reviews (Kathy and Darren have just done this, Run Leaders get second dibs). We encourage members from all abilities and groups to represent on the committee.

Roles for replacement:
Ladies Captain (Member has volunteered)
Treasurer
Membership secretary  (Member has volunteered)
Ordinary member (without specific role)

New roles which will be introduced at the AGM are:

Communication and social media officer: An officer to help Darren manage the website, upload info, write a few results reports etc.

Wellbeing officer:  The role is to point any members needing assistance in the direction of help and support where needed. The Officer will also support members in any Wellbeing issues should any arise and act as an independent member should there be any issues needing division and independent work without Committee involvement. We’d also like the Wellbeing Officer to plan RunandTalk mental health sessions a couple of times a year.

Coaching and Run Leader coordinator: (A qualified Run Leader to liaise with Hannah England (and Sarah Connors), Coach Colin on Tues/Thurs Sessions, Run Leaders etc. – There is scope for the club to encourage and fund qualifications should the member wish)

Assistant Arden 9 Run Director: After many years Arden 9 service Gavin Davies is moving to Wales. We would like someone to step forward to help Mark Cordiner-Barton. Ideally someone willing to assist on the day, drive equipment from garages and generally be a help.

These four posts fall under constitution clause 7.13 (nominate, delegate and assign specific tasks to officers or other members, whether or not they are already part of the management.

They are non-committee management posts but will be invited to meetings and treated as important club advisors: although they don’t have an official vote in line with the constitution their views will be treated with equal value as committee management’s. There is no time limit on the post but members will be encouraged to sit for two years in line with other committee members.

Also, should anyone wish to become Chair in 2019 and shadow Darren in the next 12 months they would be encouraged to step forward. As Chair I don’t mind continuing, but I feel it is vital that the role is regularly rotated between members for the good of the club. We’ve never had a female chair and i’d be very keen to encourage that (hint ladies!).

If you are interested in any of the roles please email kdrunningclub@gmail.com

AGM & Wednesday Training Tonight – Meet at St. Philips Church Dorridge

Blog, News

Tonight’s training and AGM will take place at St Philip’s Church, Manor Rd, Dorridge, Solihull B93 8DX.

Meet in the main hall for training – doors open 7.15 – and for the AGM afterwards.

Parking: Limited parking for a few cars in front of the hall, also in Manor Road or Westfield Close opposite. Loads of free parking however, in the railway car park behind the church via the side of Sainsbury’s petrol station.

The final proposed constitutional changes can be found here:

K&DRC constitution final approved 02.10.13 REVISION 01.04.17

The main change is the provision for a Vice Chair to be elected in 2018 with intention that having shadowed the current chair they step into the role once the chair steps down having served two years in 2019. And repeating going forward.

Please do read the constitution though and if you have any thoughts please feel free to raise them tonight.

Our AGM always needs as many members to attend as possible to ensure a full representation of views within the club are expressed.

Constitutional Amendments – AGM Proposal

Blog, Committee, News

Hello K&Ders

There are a number of revisions that have been made to the K&D Constitution. These are proposed for approval at the upcoming AGM.

Geoff Lewis has kindly and diligently been working on this (Should the American Founding Fathers have included a Geoff i’m sure we’d not be in the situation we currently find ourselves in across The Pond).

Please read the constitution prior to our AGM on 5th April:

K&DRC constitution final approved 02.10.13 REVISION 25.02.17

The revisions made by Geoff will be open for debate and, hopefully, approval on the night. Should you wish to discuss any issues pre-AGM (constitution or indeed otherwise) please contact the club on kdrunningclub@gmail.com or speak to a committee member.

Regards,
