Man vs. Horse Marathon

A 22ish mile marathon through the beautiful welsh countryside was invaded by a number of our most adventurous men. The Man vs. Horse is one of the most difficult and iconic adventure races in British running. Four K&D men can now count themselves among finishers of this event. Adding their own sprinkle of history in the record books. In the words of Chris Thorley… Read more

Monsal Half Marathon:

The Monsal Trail Half Marathon featured a number of runners from K&D this year. Jane Hunt was star of the show on Saturday, emerging as winner of her age group. Hope she has space on her mantelpiece for the shiny new trophy!

Jane Hunt – 1:42:27
Nigel Collins – 2:01:39
Caroline Edwards – 2:03:18
Isabel Arthur – 2:13:15
Frances Ramsden – 2:20:00

Midlands Road Relays:

Mixed fortunes for the men and women at the Midland’s Road Relays. Unfortunately the men’s team were devastated by injuries, illness, marathon-conflicts, tropical diseases, weird rashes in places that were blamed on short-shorts and will require 6-8 weeks of antibiotics and cream from the doctors….

Sadly that all piled up to mean we couldn’t field a full men’s team. Ouch. Disappointing after the Cross Country successes but alas. These things do happen from time to time.

The ladies though showed far more wellness and fleet of foot. Finishing a fantastic 25th/65 teams. All the ladies put in excellent performances across the board and were rewarded with very good team and individual results.

Flick Sharp – 36:06
Sarah Connors – 25:15
Monica Green – 38:00
Rosie Marsh – 22:46
Hala Atkin – 25:02
Kathy Bailey – 23:19

Brilliant running ladies – that’s a really impressive return! Read more

The line between the brave and the foolhardy is one that is often only faintly drawn. With heavy rains and ice-cold winds covering most of Warwickshire and Solihull on Sunday it was those hardy souls who ventured out for the Warwick Half Marathon or Centurions GP Series.

Warwick Half:

With Coventry moving back in the calendar the Warwick Half has become the first major local half of the year; perfect positioned for those looking to see how their winter training has treated them. Unfortunately awful conditions made quick times significantly more challenging for the runners. Nevertheless those running good times here can be safe in the knowledge that with better weather will come better times. K&D had a number of runner out.

Gareth Wainwright finished 9th overall in 1:21:06.

Brueton parkrun:

Gentlemen usually get to go first in race results so in the name of gender equality…

Elaine Callinan took the honours for K&D Ladies at Brueton parkrun on Saturday. And in a new PB no less. She was rewarded for her recent hard graft and XC racing with a new 5k PB of 22:57. Jane Hunt was just behind in 23:01 and Sarah Cattell clicked 23:55 for third place.

The men were PB Free in the first three. Gareth Wainwright and Darren John were their now habitual one and two at Brueton. Michael Swann put in a snappy performance in third with a 19:03 clocking. Read more

Brueton parkrun:

With sub-zero temperatures continuing to put the chill on parkrun Saturday it was left to the improve skills of Brueton’s organising team to put together an impromptu cross-country for the second week running.

As such times are all out of the window. Your 1-2-3 were Gareth Wainwright, Jane Evans and Anthony Dutton.

Third male was Ian Naisbitt, while second and third ladies were Kathy Bailey and Sarah Cattell. No PB’s but if you enjoyed the XC Hijinks remember that the last league fixture in the XC season is fast approaching. Men and Women are both at Warwick Uni; the bigger the numbers the better. Read more

Brueton parkrun:

And so we say farewell to 2016. While Jools’ Hootenanny VIP list has been whittled down to The Chuckle Brothers and Boy George due to every other celeb popping their cloggs, our runners showed how they are fit as a fiddle by seeing out the final day of 2016 with running shoes on.

Gareth Wainwright was the first K&D runner home in 17:25. He was followed by Darren John in 18:17 and Michael Swann in 18:40. For the ladies Jane Evans was first home but didn’t scan her barcode; meaning the win goes to Flick Sharp in 19:58. She was followed by Sarah Cattell in 24:25 and Kerry Whitehill in 25:53.

In the PB booth for the New Years Celebrations were Craig Campbell in 21:02, James Taylor in 18:58 and Rob Houlston in 18:51. PB Corner is very masculine this week. You can almost smell the testosterone.

Congrats too to Steven Evans who joined the 50 club.

Also a massive well done to Sarah Cattell who joined the 100 club. Read more
